How Standard EXE Project Save?

After creation of an application, next step is to save the project. You can choose File ==> Save from menu bar or press Ctrl + S to save a project. During saving process Visual Basic prompts you to enter a name for the Form control and at last Visual Basic prompts you to enter the name of project ( with which it is save on the disk ). If there are more then one Forms in a project then all Forms will be stored with a special name before saving that project.

Note :


  • Project shall be stored/saved with .vbp extension.
  • Form shall be stored/saved with .frm extension.
  • Module shall be stored/saved with .bas extension.
  • Class Module shall be stored/saved with .cls extension.
  • User Control shall be stored/saved with .ctl extension.
  • Property page shall be stored/saved with .pag extension.
  • Data Environment and Data Report shall be stored/saved with .dsr extension.


SourceSafe:


In the last of storing process When Form and project are stored/saved on the disk at any location Then following window displays.



The window prompts you whether your project will be added to SourceSafe or not. SourceSafe is a system that gives you surety that your source files are properly protected and backed up SourceSafe also helps you to organize different versions of the source files. SourceSafe system is added during installation process of Visual Basic.
